Even though the banner was pulled, we are still getting rewards for Family Battles. I really hope this is a sign that battle rewards will be a permanent thing. I started a Family Battle when I saw the banner was pulled from the Home Page. I thought it was possible that it was an indication that the rewards were pulled. The battle shown below with the collect button was started after the banner was pulled and we all still got the rewards. I secretly want a Level 15 Badge but my family doesn't care to do battles unless there is loot. We are over half way to Level 9 so maybe we will get there. All Zynga needs to do is offer an incentive other than a pretty badge to keep us fighting other families.
