Family Experience Equation: Solved

Share:

The Official Mafia Wars Blog has posted a Family Progression FAQ. It looks just like the one Customer Support has but it answers the question they omitted. As promised by Jeff on Mafia Wars Live, here is how much Family Experience is required to get to each level of Family Progression.
You may notice that the numbers are slightly off from the numbers you get using the Family Progression bookmarklet by Team Spockholm. The reason is because the numbers above are estimates. The Family Progression numbers are absolute. The downfall is they can only be acquired once a Family reaches a level. For now, only the exact number of Family experience for Levels 1-6 is known so it's nice to have the estimated numbers from above.

Another issue not addressed on the Customer Support FAQ is the timer. The answer to this question makes me a little nervous. I just know they are going to nerf us all to the weekly timer and progression will take longer due to wasted experience.

Q: How do the timers work?
A: The timer in the top right corner of the window lets you know when the current period ends and the next period begins. You have until then to maximize your contribution to your family's collective experience. Currently, some families are on a 24-hour timer, which allows one to contribute smaller chunks of family experience more frequently, while others are on a weekly timer, which allows one to contribute larger chunks of family experience less frequently. In both cases, you can earn a maximum of 16,800 family experience for your family each week. After a week or two, we’ll switch all families to the one timer we determine to be best for the game.

If you want to help in letting Zynga know the daily timer is much better, please go and like and share this Get Satisfaction thread. 709 players can't be wrong!

  1. As i posted, in the GS link, This would not matter except, Zynga can not seem to get the story "RIGHT" on the point of, " Does the extra FAMILY XP count towards the next Badge Level.

To date, we have 3 YES's,.. 1 From E-mail, and 2 from Live support, All 3 state, the personnel XP's From your objectives are lost once the clock resets, and,.. all 3 also say If one of the family Progression bars are at 100% and you collect on the objective, the extra "FAMILY XP's count towards the next Badge Level

BUT, "BIG BUTT" It seems that everyone is reporting this to be not true, In fact my family just switched from 4 to 5, and all progress bars were set to Zero with nothing forwarding from the tons of over collected XP's, which you lose if you don't collect.

So. you are right in say the number are estimates, because you can not factor in the amount of wasted XP's you are collecting for your family that just does NOT count.

Oh and lastly, A Zynga rep, has stated "they are aware of the issue and the developers are working on solving it, "REALLY" They need a new "Fuc?Off and leave use alone" script this one is getting boring

  2. "After a week or two, we’ll switch all families to the one timer we determine to be best for the game."

Scary, that! Somewhat like the US Government determining what's "best for the economy", which in their minds is the financial infrastructure rather than the people of the country.

Let's hope Zynga doesn't make their decision on what's best for their "financial infrastructure" instead of the players of the game, for a change.

However, I fear that by the time they realize that there's a point of diminishing returns it will be too late and they'll have already passed the threshold that spells the end of the game.

  3. The values in this table are completely misrepresentative, to go from level 2 to level 3 (for example) you need 100k fxp. So you need the same as 1-2 plus an extra 50k. (total 150k from 1-3)

In order for this table to actually provide accurate information the second column need to be renamed to 'per level increase' (or something along those lines) and the actual needed family experience to get from level X to level Y would be the sum of the previous level plus the increase.

The following table accurately represents the data in a way that is not misleading as per the faq, it also fits properly with the values as observed in game, and as i estimated in the table on the mafia wars wiki (user karmakula) prior to them releasing this (misrepresented) information.

    Level Increase This level Total
    1 0 0 0
    2 50,000 50,000 50,000
    3 50,000 100,000 150,000
    4 125,000 225,000 375,000
    5 275,000 500,000 875,000
    6 500,000 1,000,000 1,875,000
    7 1,250,000 2,250,000 4,125,000
    8 2,750,000 5,000,000 9,125,000
    9 5,000,000 10,000,000 19,125,000
    10 12,500,000 22,500,000 41,625,000
