Zynga has to be aware that players are all kinds of upset over the ridiculous Raven Boss Fight. I've seen more people say they are quitting now because the game is just for players who spend money. Today the Official Mafia Wars Blog has updated their post about the return of The Raven and gave us some helpful advice. Nice try Zynga, there is no way to complete this Boss Fight in 8 hours without spending Reward Points. Don't they know there is a cap on how much Ammo we can have on hand at one time? You can't defeat him with maxed out Ammo and 8 hours isn't enough time to get more as the drop rates are dismal. Their advice of waiting it out and skipping Raven Boss Fights until you have enough sucks!!!
7/14/2011 12:07pm PDT UPDATE: Assassin Boss Fights are purposefully designed to be especially challenging, requiring most players to use longer-term strategies. Here are some that we recommend:
1) Collect the standard Boss Fight Ammos and the Assassin-exclusive Sniper Shot and save them through multiple appearances of the Assassin, attacking him with your stockpile of Ammo only once you believe you have enough to defeat him within the 8 hours. (It may take days or weeks for you to collect enough. This is by design.)
2) Maximize the damage you deal when you attack by using the Ammos in the most powerful combination you know. We can’t give away the red combos (by the way, there are 6 different ones, so the red combo that works for your friends may not work for you), but we’ve smuggled the yellow combo out of the Mafia Wars studio for you: Bloody Knuckles, Bloody Knuckles, Swing Of The Bat, Sniper Shot.
Good luck, mobsters, and let us know what you think of Assassin Boss Fights via this survey.
Here is my advice. Start to accept that you can't finish everything in this game and beat your OCD. Achievements are a big part of why I like Mafia Wars and I'm starting to deal with and accept the fact that I will not get the Requiescat in Pace Centesimus. I spent about 40 Reward Points to finish the Boss Fight so I could make a blog post about it and I won't do that 100 times. I spend enough Reward Points as it is and I question the stability of the player base and Mafia Wars to invest even more money into my account.
I've already accepted that the What's After Trillion is going to take a lot of time and I'm slowly getting there. I'm not sure I can deal with two achievements that fit this category. Have I mentioned that shadowed achievements drive me crazy? If I can't accept them, I have to ignore them. The only way to ignore and not care anymore is to quit the game and go back to playing poker (definitely not Zynga Poker!).
Here is the survey they want us to take. I recommend as many players as possible take it. They won't change anything if we all just suck it up and spend money to defeat The Raven. To take this survey, go here. These are the options for each statement.
Here are the statements and the answers I chose. Obviously I'm not happy with this feature and I think it's a step back for the game that is already losing players.
Will you be able to accept this feature or will be one of the millions who have quit Mafia Wars?

I got about 2 clicks into the Raven Boss fight and said screw it!! I got the 1st achievement and am coming to terms with not making the other (but it is sooo hard!!
ReplyDeleteMy Achievements (141/143) :(
Well, once again they sink to a new 'low'.
ReplyDeleteIt will be the end soon. I wish I didn't love playing so much. :(
Maybe it would help if they hadn't capped the ammo at 50 this time.. it was 99 for the first round of the assassin. I think letting us collect up to 200 would be a little more reasonable. Also the drop rate for the sniper shots is entirely too low for all but the highest stamina players.. even with two levels I got 4 today.. And I was the only one in my group of those who had him who got any to drop.
ReplyDelete"Also the drop rate for the sniper shots is entirely too low for all but the highest stamina players..." REALLY? I have 7,000 stamina, and all I got was TWO sniper shots over a period of FOUR hours using TWO assassin-a-nators (yep, works best for me) AND fighting manually, ALL at the same time.
