We've had a lot of Gift Mastery Events in Mafia Wars (12 total since October 1, 2010). They were ok at first but Zynga got a little carried away and players quickly became annoyed. Back in April, many expressed their opinions about back to back gifting events and Zynga responded. They promised we wouldn't see a Gift Mastery Event for a while and the next one would require less gifts to collect. Check out the post titled Gifting Events and Energy Packs on the Official Mafia Wars Blog published on April 18th. What's most interesting about this post is the statement below.
"One thing we are working to improve, based on your feedback, is the gift event experience, specifically the amount of time it takes to complete these events. We are excited to announce that the next gifting event will require fewer gifts to be sent and received, while continuing to carry the same type of reward for completion. We hope that reducing the gifting in this event will allow you to spend more time in the game itself, leveling up, icing your enemies, and generally enjoying the dangerous streets in the exciting cities of Mafia Wars.".
Now lets take a trip down memory lane and look at all 12 of the Gift Mastery Events and how many gifts were required for each level of mastery. It's been almost 3 months since we've had a Gift Mastery Event but that doesn't mean players forgot what we were told. You can see by the chart below that there are actually more gifts in the Freedom Fighters Gift Mastery Event than there were in any of the other 11. This gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "Less Is More".

ReplyDeleteThe most crappyy event-type that Zynga has ever come up with, since nothing, not even one tiny factor depends on how strong you are and even a level 10 player can master it no problem for the same reward as any highh level dedicated player
ReplyDeleteto get first 4 collect from inside .. then collect from outside { but make sure you collect from same user as inside on every accept).....repeat process till all amounts are gained ;)
ReplyDeleteI think the gifting events like these are the best. What would you have free gifts for in every day gaming ? I honestly don't see the point in gifting much if there's not a great win in it. A few mystery bags and 3 secret drops a day does not require me to send a lot of gifts, nor get a lot, and the only useful thing there is the rare RP, treasure chest key to even rarer RP, def/att, energy/stamina boosts and that's about it when you've once gotten the loot items.
ReplyDeleteThe boosts are completely useless, and I'm fed up with special parts/exotic animal feed which one can get via posts if it even comes to that.
The hollow warriors and that kind of gift+gifting event mastery gifts are really the only very nice gifts.
I'd like more of this kind of gifting events. I've missed them. I love planning and preparing so when the last item is released it's an explosion and matter of how fast one can send out/accept and dig in one's lists to master it all and get REALLY GOOD loot.
I wonder where that "Death and Taxes" event went ? The items from that would still be very good with the current "normal stat values". I hope they give it to us soon, or another theme. Anything as long as it's more gifting events.
They make the free gifts mean something.

ReplyDeletequote...even a level 10 player can master it no problem for the same reward as any highh level dedicated player...end quote .....yeah and as a higher level player with 20,000 combined I totally disagree - its impossible for the newbies to get very far in most events - but these they can have an equal chance. Would FAR rather see ten of these than one more ice-fest with people creating and hitting minis and other cheats.

ReplyDeletewhy would you want for newbies to have an equal chance to get same high level loot as higher lever players? the point of the game, as any other game, is, that if you are strong you own others, if low level players could get the exactly same loot without problems (if all the events would be gifting) having a high level player would have no point since no account besides pure energy accounts can farm enough items in brazil

you probably meant 200 000, but that is no high level, when you have above 325 000 combined that is worth a mention though nothing special

what so cheaty about that? strong own the weak, that's the point of mafia, this isn't farmville, everybody's been there, everybody was weak at some point and nobody went easy on them, why start going easy now?
On the other hand, the best thing was the FHEL2 loot which dropped only from people with 501 mafia, why don't make FHEL6 so that it only drops from people with above 1500 level and 501 mafia? that would be great, first it would take the heat off low level players, second it would still providing fun fighting (and even more competitivness), than perhaps add special FVHEL (very high end loot) which only drops from people, more than 2500 level and 501 mafia (or have more than 50 000 ices), and so on. there are various ways to help lower level players but crap gifting evennts are NOT the way!!
