The Big Payoff Walk Through

Share:

The Big Payoff is finally here. I love how Zynga released things on Monday and Friday this week, not to mention all the other days too. Do they really think we want to spend every waking hour playing Mafia Wars? Have they seen the Application Data? Anyways, The Big Payoff starts out with mass confusion. There is no designated Current Events Module for it. Only if you're lucky will you see an ad on the Ads Module. A few rules to remember about this jobs is you won't have it if your total energy pool is below 2,000, you don't get experience for doing the jobs (unless you get one of the experience rewards) and you can do it up to 25 times.
When you click on "Get Started" from the ad, you are directed to Brazil and that's it. You are taken to whatever District you were working on the last time you were on line. Only because of all the emails players sent to me and posts on the fan page did I know you need to go to District 1.
When you get to District 1 you will see the Big Payoff job at the top of the job page.
The wording is also confusing. To me it looks like the job will only require a maximum of 2,000 energy to complete but what they mean is you have to have a minimum of 2,000 energy points added to your characters skills. What makes this kind of funny is players with less than 2,000 energy won't even see this because it doesn't show up on their accounts.

Click on the yellow question mark to see the potential rewards you can get from each click of the job.
Most players will find they don't have enough energy to even get started. I had to move on over to my energy account for the rest of the images of this post.
For each click, there is a chance to get 1% - 10% mastery of the job. You will find the first few clicks will give better a better range but the vast majority of clicks will yield 1% mastery.
The rewards you have a chance to drop for each click are +5 Attack Skill Points, +5 Defense Skill Points and 2,000 Experience Points.
On your last click that fully masters the job, you get a loot item called Thin Ice. This is the only thing in this event that doesn't rely on chance.
You can brag about it and spam the news feeds. Clicking on these posts will do nothing but bring you to your Mafia Wars game. Unless you were in Brazil for your last session, the post doesn't even even take you there.

The second time I did this job, I noticed that every single click was 1% mastery and I only got 2 rewards.
The 3rd - 24th time I did the job, I got 1% mastery for each click on 0 rewards. Now I see why people are calling this job The Big Rip Off.
Once you master the job 25 times, it will say "25/25 Mastery" over the details for the Thin Ice.
The job will then vanish from District 1.
I activated my Brazil Crew Strategist and Lockpick positions and you can see they don't apply towards the Big Payoff. They shouldn't have put this job in Brazil if they aren't going to let use these bonuses. I think it should have been on a Home Page Module as it would be less confusing.
Matthias Engelhardt of the Mafia Wars Gods!!!! also did this job 25 times but he was finished in less than an hour from release. He had fun bragging about that and posted a copy of 25 active Thin Ices in his inventory. Thanks to Matthias from Skyping me the image below.
I had planned on making all kind of charts with some great statistics but as it turns out, only the first job provided anything very useful. It costs 77,000 energy to do the fist job and 100,000 energy to do jobs 2-25.I will probably just try to finish this one time as it's really a waste since you rarely get experience to level up.

  1. Another way Zynga rips off their customers. This game is becoming if you do not have any RP"S you may not get to do some of these events.

  2. Giving up on this event. Have spent about 200 RP and still only got 56% done.
It's been the biggest rip-off by Zynga so far...

  7. this event is only for like 10% or less of MW players...starting to alienate groups of players.Better be careful Zynga, you might piss more ppl off and lose even more money...

  8. Tried it for a bit on my energy account. Quit at 35% mastered. What a fricken waste of time and energy. 1,000 a hit, no experience and mainly 1% mastery. BIG TIME JOKE AND MAJOR RIPOFF. I agree with above poster, better be careful Zynga, you keep pissing people off and the exit door will be very busy. I am already seeing a lot of old timers leaving the game.

  9. So...how MANY energy refills EVEN on an energy account would it take to do it 25 times. Let's put even a bigger gap between the casual player and the credit card players.

I can see more people quitting over this inequity. I'll be lucky to finish it once and I'll have to spend RP to do it.

Get ready for another wave of people quitting Zynga!

  10. Another bunch of crap.....why don't the developers actually play the game ?

If they were playing like ordinary players they would quickly realise how amazingly ambitious these new events they are coming up with are...

    Bunch of idiots....

Why doesn't Zynga simply shut the game down....or are they just waiting for some arbitrarily low number of Daily players before they do it...

This is going to go down in business schools as a prime example of how one company killed it's Golden Goose, because they were so out of touch with reality...

  11. i'm over 2000 energy but don't see the ad. oh well. if no experience from doing it, how can i level up and continue doing it? by paying RP?! no!!!!

  12. It is indeed the Big Rip-Off.

  13. I can level up with a 2k plus energy pack. That is five skill points, 1 RP and another energy pack. Why did I even start this S**t? Wake up Zinga! Short term rip offs like this will lead to long term profit loss for you!

  14. just another scam to try and pry RPs from us!!!...the fact is, it's impossible to do it 25 times in 2 days when your are not buying energy packs like crazy, no matter your energy level or energy account...let us do some counting...

I have 12k energy a got the 2000 expo 1 time from those 12 clicks, which in average means I would need about 12 energy packs to get one level (an energy pack for free), since its 12 clicks per energy pack I would need 200 energy packs (for levels 2-25) from those about 16 would be from levels, 4 from daily packs, 2 from fighters club would be for free...
which brings us to the fact I would need to buy about 178 (1780 RPs!!!!) energy packs using RP's!! most of them the 10 RPs ones since even the 5 RPs ones in fighters club have a cooldown...
now the more you have max energy obviously the less energy packs you need to buy, for example for 24k energy its not half of 178, but in fact only 78 energy packs, so about 780 RPs...36k would need 44, and so on...

now the funniest is, for example with my account which would need about 1780 RPs to finish it 25 times I can go to the market place and buy 71 items which have one statistic around 120, so an increase from the current average of about 80 by +40, thin ice increase my statistics from this average about 70+20=90 so its 2.25 times better than the average marketplace item, but you can get 70 or them for the same RP price as 25 thin ices, now 25*2.25 is ONLY 56,25 not 70 so in fact ...in average you are far better off spending RPs for the current average marketplace items than you are for energy packs to complete this event!!!!!!
cheers, another rip off by Zynga :)

  15. It would make more sense to use RPs to buy the current collectors item than waste RPs for this Big Payoff

  16. Wait a minute...

    You have.... 782 956 energy points ???

How the hell did you reach that ? o.O

  17. She is insane. And aswell everybody who manage to get 25 of this thing. No, wait, it's not thing, it's just a picture.

  18. I think this is quite possibly the worst event that Zynga has yet unrolled (and that's really saying something).

First they come up with an event that completely excludes all lower level players and, then, they almost deliberately try to piss off serious daily players.

This and The Raven in the same month, Zynga?

    Ouch!

    ReplyDelete
  19. It's a joke...like the game is becoming ..Zynga don't be to obvious ..have a little Class.

    ReplyDelete
  20. This is absolutely insane, I have 27K energy points and go only one thin ice after I used an energy pack, collected from brazil properties with the crew active. I am not fool Zynga. Biggest rip off.

I am quiting the game, that I have been playing for over 2 years.

  21. Just a heads up guys and girls ther is a problem with this event and please look out for a release from the zyngons on the home page, I got 40rp from them yesterday so i would recomend that you all should go and complain about it and see what you get

    ReplyDelete
  22. I see alot of people quitting in the near future. I've played for 3 yrs and my 1980's atari works better than Zynga games. I for one would never spend money on zynga games.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I for one was glad to see that it didn't drop lots of +5 attack and defense bonuses. A event like this could turn energy accounts into monster fighting accounts without having to spend any money.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Zynga also lies us for one other thing that I am sure that everynoe noticed it. The first 3-4 hits gives the "cheese" ie up to 10% mastery and after that always only 1% if I knew something like this I will never starded it at the first place :/

    ReplyDelete
  25. And don't forget to write Zynga Support that something is wrong with this event :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I have spent 150k energy and STILL not mastered the event enough to get ONE Thin Ice.

Plus I haven't received ONE Attack or Defence Point.

What an unbelievable waste of time.

How does Zynga actually test these features before unleashing them on an unsuspecting public?

    ReplyDelete
  27. i truly believe that zynga has some contest in their office to see who can come up with the worst event and way to piss off the most players, this is by far the first and raven event is second

    ReplyDelete
  28. also needs to be renamed as the big pissoff

    ReplyDelete
  29. Why did they even allow 2000+ energy palyers to see it ? I've got around 5700 energy but it seems useless. I just got home after being on a ienternet "free" island and didnt' even find it until I'd already burned 3 of the ways to get energy for free and now got a fighter's refill for 5 RP + 400 vcoins but after reading this and thinking it seems pretty wasted... It's a real shame the "payoff" was so SMALL ! It's not fair at all. I'd really want the car but I doubt I can make it now with only a day to do it. I wouldn't spend RP any more so it looks like it's doomed.
