The River Rider Achievement

Share:

Once Brazil was launched in beta, I reviewed all of the Brazil Achievements (1). The River Rider was by far the hardest one for me to achieve. Looting 3 Dug Out Canoes sounds easy enough but when you factor in the energy costs and loot drop rates in Brazil you realize it's not.
Dug Out Canoes drop in District 3 of Brazil. The stats suck and the drop rate is even worse. Here is run on the Ruby Level with the lowest costing energy job not requiring consumables or Real. It took 294,840 Energy to get the 3 Dug Out Canoes. That averages out to 98,280 energy per Canoe!
It would make more sense to loot on the Bronze Level but I wanted to use my energy to master all the districts more than I wanted the achievement at the time. By the time I fully mastered Brazil, I only had 1 Dug Out Canoe.
I then used my energy to loot on District 3 in hopes of getting two more Dug Out Canoes. This took some time as I could only do about 9 jobs with each energy refill.  Before I started the farming process, I made sure to activate my Lockpick. All I needed was for one Dug Out Canoe to drop and I hoped I would get credit for two.
It finally happened and I got credit for two Dug Out Canoes and was awarded the achievement. Towards the end I got desperate and tried all the different jobs in District 3 to see if one was better than the other. I was doing a job that cost Real at the time the Dug Out Canoe dropped.
It was hard to tell if the job I was doing even mattered. I believe it's all random but did a drop rate on a Real requiring job to compare to the one above. This time I used about the same amount of energy but got one more Dug Out Canoe driving the energy cost down to an average of 68,533 per Canoe. This wasn't really a good study as the number of jobs wasn't that many. Based on the results, all I can say is it's going to cost a lot of energy to get this achievement unless you were one of the lucky few who dropped 3 Dug Out Canoes through the course of mastering District 3.

  1. I actually got 5 while mastering.so that's that.guess if I'm unlucky in my job and love life that luck has gotta go somewhere, right up into dug out canoes.

  2. After reading your article, I checked mine and i have 8 so far. I am just starting the ruby level. I would think that it is purely random or you just hit a huge patch of bad luck.

  3. Well, i have mastered Dist 1/2 to Ruby, and have 1 single job holding at 99% before going on to Ruby in 3 and the other 2 are gold, and i have YET to get 1 single Dugout canoe. I have been farming exclusively in Dist 3 for over a week. So IF they dropped for you, consider yourself lucky, although i have several lower level players in mafia that have multiples of it, and seemingly get them on full runs daily. Level 440 with 14 of them! WTH! i only want 3!

  7. I have finished Brazil 3 silver mastery and currently working on gold. I have found 2 Dug Out Canoes. Drop rate is as horrible as any other Brazil item (Except construction workers.. I have got exactly 0 from jobs and Brazil districts are mastered at ruby/gold/silver/silver/ruby). I have ruby mastered Recife and Rio de Janeiro and have got only few more of some things from these districts. Good thing is that I'm serial leveler and don't have to worry about energy cost.

  8. NO Mission rewards you with them. They are rewarding the other canoe, NOT the Dugout

  9. After I had ruby mastered Manaus and only two had dropped I simply asked Zynga to send me the third one. They did. They accepted my reasoning that repeating jobs was not a valuable use of energy.

  12. i personally think that not worth to try to find the achievement, i have already completed ruby and only have 1, wasting energy for 1 Skill Point? i am not that desperate and not a perfect collector. if i dont get it, so be it. better wasting my energy finding other loot and master other jobs

  13. I have mastered all of Brazil... and I tried for this achievement on the Bronze level, to no avail. I have even mastered the Smugglers Haven, and tried after using countless amounts of energy, and still NOT One single canoe. this is horrible, really. I dont understand this at all. I am sick of Zynga and hope they all rot in hell.

  14. I fully completed -Manaus- through the ruby level and only achieved x1 dug out canoe. So I used up all my energy 2 different times and found the 2nd canoe in the "intercept the rebel" job. I heard the canoe can also be found in the " open fire on..." job. I will spend more energy to find the 3rd canoe.

  15. Yes! I completed Brazil years ago but could not get this achievement. After reading all the above I went back to District 3 and did the job Gather Intel From Street Rats and got the final 2 canoes and the achievement and I only had to spend less than 10000 stamina! Result!
