The Slotmachine by Eike Meier

This is for all those who still don't have their Hot Slot archivement finished.
Maybe you don't know that there are several slotting groups out there, some of them formed on the Spockholm discussion boards, some on other gifting or social groups.
The idea is simple. Having 21 people that play each others slots every day, so that after 50 days everyone in the group has his archivement done.
Why 21? Because you can play 20 player's slots per day!
Pistol Pete has written an awesome script for that which just goes through a list of friends, tries to play their slots and outputs the results.

Now finding 20 other players that are reliable, play every day and don't just slack around the group is hard to find. You can have everyone posting the results, but how do you know if someone just copies the last results or just did nothing?

This is where the Spockholm Slotmachine comes in. My idea was having a slotting group that is self-organizing, using a webpage to see the results and giving fair payback for your play. And this is how it works.

First, go to the Slotmachine website at http://slotmachine.spocklet.com/

Grab the bookmarklet and run it in an unframed browser window:

It will show you your archviement status and a "Start" button.

Once you click the button, it will load a list of 100 players and try to play their slots.

Don't be demotivated if it does not play many slots in the beginning. Since you have to be in a mafia to play someones slots, you need to start adding people from the Slotmachine.
Now you can either click some of the people that are reported in the bookmarklet output, or you can choose some from the webpage. Be careful not to add too fast, as Facebook does not like that.

Remember - your archivement takes at least 50 days, so start slowly!
Once you start contributing, other people will also add you to their mafia, so you'll soon be having enough people to play.
If you see this popup, you know that your run has been counted. You can visit the website now and see the latest log entry.

Once you're done, you have to wait 24 hours to play again. Meanwhile, other players will play your slots. This is done on a 1:1 ratio, meaning that if you play 20 slots every day, 20 other players will play your slots. So sit back and wait for the archievement count to go up. Don't forget to visit the website from time to time to add some newbies or other players.

If you already reached your archivement, please feel welcome to keep playing. Apart from some crappy boosts and crappy loot, you'll be listed in the the donations table at the bottom of the website, and hopefully people will thank you by sending you stuff.
If you want to know more, please read the discription on the website http://slotmachine.spocklet.com/, and if you still have questions, feel free to ask.

Next days I will also add the Slotmachine to the checklist, too. So you will never forget to play!

Happy slotting!
Eike

  5. I push start and nothing happens. It goes to a similar screen like the one you have, but there is no activity happening. I'm I doing something wrong? - James
