I try to review the Mafia Wars Application statistics once a month or so. The last review was on Feb 10th (1) and we saw a decline in growth. The Mafia Wars Application is now number 26 on the leader board and was 23 last month. All original images come from the All Facebook App Stats Page and were modified by me to show the numbers of interest.
We continue to see decline in players but the numbers are actually an improvement over what was lost last month. It's hard to say what this all means. I know energy accounts are useless so many players don't log into those anymore. I had to laugh when my main account became a higher level than my energy account due to lack of use. The launch of a new destination usually causes an increase of players so we will have to wait and see if Brazil causes players who have quit to come back.

It will continue to decline, even with the release of Brazil. Player who do log in to see what the NEW Brazil is like will be, again, disappointed. One of the biggest complaints you will see from MW players is all the necessary spamming (Zyngas way of hoping to get new players). People have asked and asked for the spamming to stop only to see it INCREASE. This lack of concern for its players will lead to Zynga losing even more Mafia Wars players.
ReplyDelete2.2m daily players is nothing to brag about. 12m monthly isn't either, knowing most players have at least 2-3 looting accounts means real statistics would show there are only about 3m players and they seem to be complaining more and more about the same topics...there is little chance of picking up AND retaining new players...MW fall is near.
If they had left the energy/farmers alone and stopped the spam, they could have had one of the most popular games out there. As a two year player I am coming quickly to the point of moving on to something else.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you all complaining about energy accounts? My energy account is doing fine, and I see nothing wrong with it.
ReplyDeleteThe spam's annoying, but it's clear that their high level decisions are all decided by marketers.
Just say no to the optional gifting events and such; the items are good, but your wrist is worth more than that.
nobody complaining about energy accounts. fact is most people who make an energy account do so to loot. with the deathblow to farmers/traders from zynga making all top loot in new cities damn near impossible to acquire any quantity and THEN making everything nongiftable, whats the point in using an energy account to loot for your main or scout whats ahead.
ReplyDeleteMy energy accnt is my main accnt lol.
ReplyDeleteEarly on, I wanted the high energy to powerlevel quickly. Once I had a sufficiently large energy pool, I could master cities in a timely fashion.
I have enough stats to do what I want, so I'm satisfied.
The spike in the number of players around March 18 was due to a cross-promotion in Cityville. Therefore, the figures are not truly representative of actual MW activity.
ReplyDeleteHave you looked at today's numbers? 100,000 users and the app is ranked at 293 only because they list the apps alphabetically that have the same DAU.
