Loyalty Program 411

Share:

Finally someone has taken the time to answer all the questions we have had about the Loyalty Program.  Zynga Customer Support has created the Loyalty Program 411 and FAQ page.  It's a lot to read but for those players who are curious as to how the Loyalty Program works and to figure out if and when they will ever move up a tier, it's worth reading.  I know I started out on the Gold Level, then I dropped to Emerald.  When we started to earn Loyalty Points through in game playing, I moved back to Gold and now I'm 8% away from being a Platinum member.  I haven't purchased too many Reward Points as I don't really have a lot of time to use them. This shows that the Loyalty Points we earn from playing every day are counting towards something.
Mike Nestor made a purchase of Reward Points yesterday because they were 40% off.  He took screen shots before and after his purchase and you can see that his mastery increased a lot more than from just playing in game.  Bottom line is that Loyalty Points earned through purchases of Reward Points will increase you mastery a lot more than those earned for playing the game.

Mafia Wars Loyalty Program 411 and FAQ
411
The Mafia Wars Loyalty Program is designed to reward both our customers and consistent players with a progressively better options.  There are 3 official public statuses - Emerald, Gold, and Platinum.
  • Upon reaching Gold or high statuses for the first time, you will receive a one-time grant of Limited Edition item, as well as a one-time 'Tier Earnings' Loyalty Point bonus.
  • In addition, as your loyalty status increases, you can qualify for increasing multiplier bonuses for Loyalty Points on your purchases.
  • On rare occasions, there may be sales in which there are increasing discounts on purchases of Reward Points.
  • Platinum status players will also have access to Beta content, Special Rewards, and invitations to Mafia Wars Fan events.
There are 5 Main components to the Loyalty Program
  • Status
  • Mastery Bar
  • Monthly Requirement
  • Tier Earning
  • Exclusive Earning
Status
There are 3 official public statuses - Emerald, Gold, and Platinum.  In order to qualify for the next status, you must meet 2 requirements.
  1. You need to meet the monthly requirement for your current Loyalty Status
  2. You need to achieve 100% Mastery in the current Mastery Bar.  [Exception - The Mastery Bar for players currently in Platinum status is purely cosmetic and does not indicate any meaningful 'progress']
Mastery Bar
The Mastery Bar indicates progress towards the next status up to Platinum.  Your Mastery Bar increases through two ways
  • Purchases of Reward Points
  • Social Loyalty Points, which are gained through helping friends, tier earnings bonus, and exclusive earnings bonus
Loyalty Points from purchases of Reward Points are weighted much more heavily than Social Loyalty Points.  [i.e.  5 Loyalty Points from purchases count more than 5 Loyalty Points from wall posts]
Monthly Requirement
In order to remain in the status that you were in at the beginning of the month, you must meet the status's monthly requirement.  You can meet that monthly requirement in two ways
  • Purchases of Reward Points
  • Social Loyalty Points, which are gained through helping friends, tier earnings bonus, and exclusive earnings bonus
Loyalty Points from purchases of Reward Points are weighted much more heavily than Social Loyalty Points.  [i.e.  5 Loyalty Points from wall posts count as 1 Loyalty Point towards your monthly requirement.]  In addition, Loyalty Points received from the status multiplier count towards the Monthly Requirement.  [For example - If you are at Gold Level, and you spend $20.  The Gold multiplier is 2x, so you will receive 20 Loyalty Points from the purchase and an additional 20 Loyalty Points from the multiplier.  The additional Loyalty Points fully count towards your monthly requirement.]
Level - Monthly Requirement
  • Emerald - No requirement
  • Gold - 100 Loyalty Points
  • Platinum - 400 Loyalty Points
If you do not meet this requirement, your status will drop a level following the first complete month that you are at that status [For example - If you reach Platinum in mid-January, you have until the end of February to complete the Platinum monthly requirement.
Tier Earning
This is a one-time bonus of Loyalty Points and/or a Limited Edition Item automatically awarded the first time you reach a status.
Level - Bonus
  • Emerald - 400 Loyalty Points
  • Gold - 1000 Loyalty Points + Power Rifle (W)
  • Platinum - 2500 Loyalty Points + Little Dog (W)
The Loyalty Points from Tier Earnings bonuses count as Social Loyalty Points.
Exclusive Earning
This is a one-time bonus of Loyalty Points automatically awarded when you spend a required amount within the first three months after the first time you reach that status.
Level - Requirement - Bonus
  • Emerald - $400 - 3000 Loyalty Points
  • Gold - $1000 - 10000 Loyalty Points
  • Platinum - $2000 - 30000 Loyalty Points
Social Loyalty Points do not count towards eligibility for Exclusive Earnings.  The Loyalty Points from ExclusiveEarnings bonuses count as Social Loyalty Points.  The in-game requirements are being updated to match the requirements listed above.
FAQ
Q: How do I get to next tier in Mafia Wars? How much do I need to purchase?
A: Your status is based on Reward Points purchases as well as Loyalty Points earned by being an active player and helping out your Mafia. You may qualify for a promotion by continuing to make in-game purchases and playing Mafia Wars. We do not list a specific dollar amount associated with each tier because the levels are based on a combination of loyalty points earned from purchases and in-game activities. In order to protect the privacy of our players, we do not list the total loyalty point amount needed to upgrade to a different tier. In an effort to maintain fairness in the game, the requirements to receive a Loyalty Program promotion are the same for all players.

Q: How do I earn Loyalty Points from Playing Mafia Wars? More importantly, which in-game activities accumulate Loyal Points? Do the Loyalty Points earned from the News feed count towards Mastery?
A: We are working to provide new ways for all players to earn Loyalty Points through game play.  Yes, the Loyalty Points you receive from clicking on your friends’ Mafia Wars newsfeeds counts toward your Loyalty Program mastery. To move up a tier, you will need to show consistent loyalty to your mafia.
Currently, the best way to earn Loyalty Points through game play is to be loyal to your mafia.
Examples include:
- Helping your mafia complete social jobs
- Helping your Mafia when they post news feeds or send requests by clicking or accepting them

Q: Can Non-Paying Players reach Higher Tiers in the Loyalty Program?
A: Yes. Non-paying users can reach higher tiers in the Loyalty Program by being loyal to your Mafia and increasing your loyalty mastery.
Examples include:
- Helping your mafia complete social jobs
- Helping your Mafia when they post news feeds or send requests by clicking or accepting them
Q: How close am I to qualifying for Exclusive Earnings?
A: Your purchase records might indicate how close you are to meeting the requirement.  If you would like verification of your progress toward Exclusive Earnings, please contact Customer Support.
Q: What effect does this have on other Purchasing Programs?
A:  The Loyalty Program is independent from the wire program. All users can participate in the wire program as long as you make the $500 minimum wire payment.  All wire program customers automatically receive Gold status or higher.

Q: What exactly is "Platinum" Customer Service, and is my Service affected if I am not Platinum?
A: Customer service for Platinum players will be high priority and receive a faster response. If you are not Platinum status, your service will not be affected.

Q: I earned 10 Loyalty Points by clicking on a feed but my monthly counter didn’t go up by 10.  What’s happening?
A: Social Loyalty Points earned through game play can be redeemed for the same items as Loyalty Points earned through Reward Point purchases. However, Social Loyalty Points count as a fraction of Loyalty Point for the purposes of the monthly requirements.
Q: How many Loyalty Points can I gain per day from feeds?
A:  You can earn up to 20 Loyalty Points per day.
Q: My mastery increases slower than my friend’s who purchases RP. What’s going on?
A:  Loyalty Points earned through Reward Point purchases have a greater impact on mastery than Social Loyalty Points earned through game play.
Q: I just lost my Gold/Platinum/Emerald status. How do I get it back?
A:  You might not have met the minimum monthly requirement to maintain your status within the end of the first complete month. If that was the case, in order to regain your status you will need to earn meet the monthly Loyalty Points requirements this month.

Q: What does make your status public/private mean?
A: Your status is private by default. Private status means that your Loyalty badge will not appear on your profile page. By changing the status to public, your Loyalty badge will appear on your profile page and be viewable by other players.

Q: I am a Gold/Platinum player and I only got 1x Loyalty Points per $. Why?
A: As a Gold/Platinum player, You may earn up to 2x/4x Loyalty Points per $. The Loyalty Point bonus multiplier is not permanent and is offered as a limited promotion.

Q: Do my game cards I purchase a retail stores count towards my loyalty program?
A: Game cards are now count as purchases for the Loyalty Point Program

Q: My LP is wrong/missing / I didn’t receive my Loyalty Points from my purchase / I didn't receive my Tier Earnings / I didn't receive my Exclusive Earnings
A: Please fill a ticket on our support site.  We will verify with our transaction records and apply LP as warranted.  Higher claim amounts may require additional time and higher level record request to confirm.

Q: My Mastery is wrong / How does my Mastery bar calculate?
A: Your mastery is based on Reward Point purchases, being an active player, and how often you help your Mafia. Your mastery will increase by continuing to make in-game purchases and playing Mafia Wars. We do not list a specific dollar amount needed for each tier because the levels are based on a combination of loyalty points earned from purchases and in-game activities. In order to protect the privacy of our players, we do not list the total loyalty point amounts needed to upgrade to a different tier.  Social Loyalty Points count for a very small percentage towards Mastery, so it may take a couple weeks of collecting 20 Loyalty Points a day to see Mastery increase by a percent.

Q: My status is wrong.
A: Please file a ticket on our support site.  We will verify with our transaction records and update your status as warranted.

Q: I reached 100% Mastery in Platinum Status, but nothing happened. Now what?
A: We have not designed a reward for reaching 100% Mastery in Platinum status. When we do, the reward will automatically be credited to your account.

  1. I don't know when these FAQ were posted but I have been trying for 6 weeks to get information from Zynga about the status of my Platinum account and all I have had is conflicting information.

Initially, they point blank refused to tell me what my cumulative total was - citing that it would be unfair to other players for me to know that. Eventually I got that information from them.

The next problem came when I told them - based on my calculation - that I had earned 8000 LP and should get the 30000 bonus. This is where it gets messy. According to the FAQ the 8000 must be achieved through a $2000 purchase. But in their last message to me a few days ago they were adamant that the 30000 points are awarded only when you earn 8000 LP through the game itself - not through purchasing. Basically, it seems whoever is replying to your query will have a different answer. But this fails to address the fact that it categorically states earn 8000 LPs in the first 3 months - nowhere does it tell you how, or that they have restrictions on how those points are awarded to earn the 30000 bonus.

I suspect they have now published these FAQs to avoid messy legal problems. I don't think publishing them now will make them avoid messy legal issues if people choose to follow it through.

  2. I've no bloody idea how this works. Even their 'FAQs" seem to be vague...does one have to accumulate 'X' number of points and hold them or does the number not change tho you spend them? I own about ten green Mamabas-at 700 LP's each plus I spent LP's on energy and some other stuff yet I am still Emerald so what's the point of just sitting on them when I beat Platinum plaayers with their toys anyway?

  3. I have the same problem as darkling angel, i earned well over the required points for the bonus for gold in the first 3 months, got nothing. Also i play every day, help a lot of people at everything and in the last 4 weeks have earned over 2000 loyalty points, (not bought) yet my mastery has stayed at 67% for months.Seems Zynga do not really know what they are doing with this system.

  4. I've no idea how this is meant to work. After sitting on 70% to gold for months I decided to make a purchase just to see what effect it would have. I'm now at 68%.
I'm just going to ignore it.
