Blowin' Up: What The Hell Was That!?

Share:

Thank God they did not let me attend this event.  I would have been extremely disappointed.  First off, it wasn't even in Las Vegas.  According to a Zynga Forum Discussion Thread that contained the exact coordinates of the "Top Secret" location (it was promptly deleted), The Mafia Wars Blowin' Up Event was located at The Tonapah Test Range in Yukka Flat, NV.  I wouldn't have been happy to realize that I needed to drive 110 miles to get there.
Next, I would have been disappointed that I would have had to stand out in the hot sun listening to this guy who had the biggest microphone I've ever seen.
You could tell that Snoop Dogg wasn't even that excited.  I mean come on, he didn't even dress up for the event.  When he was on the mic he sounded some what enthused but ensured to drop a F bomb any chance he could.
The explosion was so fast and Snoop was in front of it most of the time.  All this work and it was only viewed live by 346,148 people.  Where are the 20 Million players that Microphone Guy claims are out there?
When it was all over, Snoop made sure to fulfill his contractual obligation and tell us all to go buy Mafia Wars when it hits the stores.  That one made me laugh.
Davis Elen Advertising Tweeted that"Snoop did some serious damage on the armored truck."
If you want to see the video, thank The Clearing House for finding it HERE.

  7. @Anonymous, please find me somebody who was satisfied with this event. I admit I was bitter they wouldn't let me attend. I do applaud the people that worked hard to put it together and I should have said something to that effect. I try not to complain but Zynga makes it hard for me not to. If they left the game how we all liked it then I would have more positive things to say.

  8. No dress rehearsal,no script for snoop, just show up for $10K and push a button. His bad language, wow no bleeps, hahahah. They have a lot of room to improve on the next event !!! Can't say that enough.

  10. Thanks, LootLady for posting this video of the event. I, like you, was terribly disappointed they didn't have a public event where everyone, who wanted to, could attend. You say it was in Tonopah. I have to say, what the heck, Zynga? You said the VEGAS desert. Two hours away is not Vegas. There are plenty of desert places they could have held in, even with an audience. I think it would have been great to have the Vegas skyline in the background.

Alas, it is what it was supposed to be: blowin' up a truck in the desert.

Personally, I liked Snoop there. Though I can't understand WHY he was there, he sure is entertaining..

  12. @loot lady from annoynmous....

... dreaming about mafia wars is better than snoop moose doing some event he has no heart in... just a publicity event to pull in the urban market ie: lando callrisian, mace windu... it's like calling us stupid, and easily pleased, glad to see your not so easily swayed, ive commented like a woodpecker on the "event"... none of it good, had more likes, than usual aha... snoop sell out can "insert verb" :D

  13. You have the clearest video I've seen of the event yet. I thought Snoop would have mixed in a little somethin' somethin' into that. The production was poor from my end.

However, this illustrates one thing. They'll spend all that money for PR and publicity, and jump through hoops for that. They don't seem to be as eager to spend the same resources into making the game work.

As for the 20 million players, you can track those numbers on Facebackers.com. They have statistics for nearly every major app on Facebook. Within a margin of error and rounding, the numbers are correct.

However, it amazes me that what me and many others saw was a very pixelated image. I had frames slowing and not rendering correctly. I had psychodelic color blotches showing on the video.

If you think that's bad, the recorded version was worse! It was the same except almost all black. The only time I could see anything was when the explosion happened.

Best of all, guess how I watched the event? I didn't watch it from MW. Why? Well, as usual, it didn't work. I couldn't connect to the video feed from the game itself. If I was Pincus, I'd be pissed! All that money, time, effort, and what did you really see?

However, that's better than sinking that money into hiring someone to fix the game to make sure it works-and not through outsourcing. That might cost too much. So we'll spend all this money for the big Snoop D O double jizzle-fo shizzle.

That's OK. I'm sure there will be some people who will view Zynga as pigs. Like Snoop, they'll see the pigs trying to get at em, and drop it like it's hot.

  14. i think zygna should have an event like the howard stern concern in Private Parts, set in central park. this time hosted by loot lady w some good music, in some vegas open space ... a lot more people would be interested than the silly armored truck explosion, especially all her blog fans!!
