Caesar's Mystery Bags Are Back

UPDATE: After about 2 hours, Caesar's Mystery Bags were pulled. They are no longer on the Free Gift Page and if a player sends you a return gift from one you sent, it will be a Blue Mystery Bag.

For the third time since their introduction, Caesar’s Mystery Bags are back. If you are fast and collect 20 before your gift reset time, you will be able to collect 20 more after. Caesar’s Mystery Bags are good once 48 hours once they hit your ZMC.

April Fools Day 2012

Tomorrow is April Fools Day and many are wondering if Zynga will do anything special this year. Nobody will forget April Fools Day 2010 when the Chop Shop mysteriously turned into the Unicorn Shop. Mafia Wars players were furious when all of a sudden their precious Red Angels turned into Rainbowcorns. Trading was a big deal back then and the Red Angel was a hot item. Many did not appreciate this joke and the rest of us thought it was hilarious.

Mafia Wars: Informant Podcast Episode 152

Pete, Jen, and Jana cover topics like scripting, FB timline on Fan Pages, and new Marketplace Loot. There is an event going on in the Marketplace, the March Madness. If you manage to buy 15 items you get the Mad Hatter, which looks like a Bum. We also think he is an impostor becuase he is not sporting the actual hay. We can expect another Secret Mission and another round of Mafia Poker. We can expect more aggressive blocking methods being used to curb abusive scripts. I would hope the script users in question would get with the program. However, I do not see that happening.

Newsfeed For Pages: Timeline Simplifier

We all knew the day would come when Facebook would force Timeline onto all fan pages. That day was today and as predicted the Mafia Wars Loot Lady Fan Page is a big hot mess. Add MWHelper and Exp/Ene 3.0 to the Spockholm Toolbar

When Zynga intentionally broke unframing, they did more damage to many useful analytical scripts then to the ones they are trying to stop. Two scripts that come to mind are the Mafia Wars Helper by Tomi Crnicki and Experience/Energy 3.0 by Joyka. The easiest way to get around the unframing block is to use the Spockholm Mafia Toolbar. All Spocklets out of beta testing as well as any outside scripts you add can be run unframed. To add the scripts mentioned above to your Spockholm Toolbar, follow the instructions below.

VIP Membership Updates & Loot

On February 29th, Zynga introduced 6 different test popups for their VIP Membership program [1]. There were 3 different types, Supercharged Performance, Exclusive Deals and Hired Help with two different sets of prices.

No New Group Sale Item

Last weeks Group Sale item was another failure. With less than 30 minutes to go, 1,682 items needed to be sold to reach the Gold level. As predicted by the trend of these items, it never made it. That Owl doesn’t seem so powerful now! The Powerful Owl was the last Group Sale item added to the inventory [1].

Last Day To Upgrade Your Shamrock Pub

There are less than 24 hours to do that last bit of begging to get your Shamrock Pub upgraded to the next level. I don’t see images in the servers for another property but that hasn’t stopped Zynga in the past. Hopefully they will give us a break.

How To Get Your 8 Hour Toolbar Bonuses

The Zynga Toolbar offers a bonus of energy or stamina every 8 hours. The good news is you don’t need to install an annoying third party toolbar to get it. You do need to grant the Zynga Game Bar Application permission to access some of your basic information. To do this go here. If you see a big “Install” button, it means you have already given the application permission.

TRiScaRo Family Battle Bug

Every now and then, an account or family will encounter a bug that is unique. Unfortunately these types of bugs are almost impossible to get fixed because they can’t be reproduced. The TRiScaRo Family has been around much longer than the Family Module and are one of the original families/clans of Mafia Wars. This family has a bug related to Family Battle request and are at a big disadvantage because of it.

Limited Edition Loot Item: L-29

Yesterday another Limited Edition loot item was made available. It was released after the Sharktooth but before the March Madness items. If you purchased one at the full price of 35 reward points, you won’t be happy to see it’s now on sale for 25.

Mafia Wars: Informant Podcast Episode 151

With Zynga looking closer at player script behavior, there is much debate in the community on what is a bot and what is not. Pete defines his own opinion of the differences between scripts and bots. While it may be true that all bots are scripts, it can’t be said that all scripts are bots. There are some vicious mods out there making the game less enjoyable for all. Jen discusses the happenings of the PAC2 and decides that it’s Zynga’s job to get the information out there. The gang talks about all the properties, Spockholm and game updates.

We often talk about the challenges of the Mafia Wars developers. Their goal is to make the game fun but at the same time they need to comply with the goals of upper management. Jake Coleman discovered something funny in the back code of the game. The green writing in the image below is code that is not executed in the game and serves as comments that the developers can make to each other. We all hate popups, they know we hate popups but you can tell by the comment in the code that they have no choice to do something about it and have a sense of humor. I can only imagine the comments to be found in the Limited Time Upgrade Properties.

March Madness 50% Off Reward Points Starts Now

The March Madness Marketplace Promotion hasn’t started yet but the discounts have. There are no popups at this time but if If you go to the Marketplace, you will find that reward points are now 50% off and there is a 50% Game Card redemption bonus. These offers usually kick off the start of the Marketplace Promotions. We are usually told the discounts are for one day only but usually they last for two (probably some genius marking strategy to prevent procrastinating).

Limited Edition Item: Sharktooth

There is a new Limited Edition item available in the Marketplace. The Sharktooth has stats of 170/97 and is missing a description. If this follows the pattern of the other items, this will be the next family Bargain item.

Family Bargain Item: Publicist

As predicted, the forth Family Bargain item is the Publicist [1]. They say there is a sucker born every minute and Mafia Wars must contain at least one family full of them or they would discontinue this feature. I have yet to see a screen shot of any family even getting to the first tier. If your family wants to go for it, there are a little over 2 days to get it done.

March Madness Marketplace Promotion: Coming Soon

Skill Point Crafting Property Charts

When we first started playing Mafia Wars, many of us didn't realize that we would someday be playing a game similar to CityVille. We’ve been asked many times on the Mafia Wars Loot Lady Fan Page if there were any reference charts to keep track of the plethora of crafting properties which are now available. There are a total of 19 properties in which you can craft or purchase items that provide your character with additional skill points. If Zynga wanted the player base to embrace their properties, they wouldn’t limit how many we can utilize. There are current exploits which allow players to craft from more than 5 and removing the limitations would make the game fair for all players.

How To Stop Mafia Wars Session Time Outs

Most of us have probably encountered a Session Time Out Error. It happens when you have a page open in Mafia Wars and leave it unattended for a while. It’s most annoying if you are running a script like RepeatJob and come back to find that not a lot got accomplished.

Mafia Wars: Informant Podcast Episode 150

Well it has been done. There is an all out effort to curb rogue script behavior. In the process those that use scripts in a reasonable manner are being punished. Pistol Pete hopes there will be some eye opening at the Studio to how this approach can actually end up hurting them. He is in full support of tackling the issue of curbing Rogue scripts. Rogue Scripts are often modifications of existing scripts to perform tasks at a blistering rate. Jen and Janna covers the new fight loot, the Battle Module issues, and the Slingo game.

How To Get London Currency

The currency in London is Pounds. The job payouts and fight rewards aren’t excessive like in some other destinations Many players are reporting that their hard earned Pounds are mysteriously vanishing into a black hole. We dealt with this issue in Chicago when many were losing Clams [1]. Overtime, it becomes a non-issue because currency in Mafia Wars eventually reaches the useless zone.
